Sports car pilot Stefan Mucke wants to gather points at the GT1 World Championship at Le Castellet (France) - "Interesting track that I have good memories of"
Berlin/Le Castellet (rol/ot) In the middle of June at the 24 hours of Le Mans he was very good on track, last weekend (26th/27th of June) he had a lot to do being a racing engineer at the first season adoption of his father Peter Mucke (team principal of Mucke Motorsport) driving a Ford Capri as well as the premier in a racing car for his wife Annette (Ford Escort BDA) and now he will be on track at the FIA GT1 World Championship coming weekend (2nd to 4th of July) - German sports car pilot Stefan Mucke can't complain about diversification. At the track Paul Ricard at French Le Castellet the Aston Martin works driver contests the fourth championship event in the DBR9 with his Dane team colleague Christoffer Nygaard for the Team Young Driver AMR (Paderborn/Copenhagen) at the races seven and eight.
"I have quite good memories of this very interesting track with fast and slow sections, because at the season opening of the Le Mans Series (LMS) at the 8 hour race of Le Castellet in April I have been on second position with the closed LMP1 sports car prototype of Aston Martin. And I already tested this track with the DBR9 as well", tells the 28 year old. "I think we have a good setup fort his track. Our main goal is to gather points in France". So far the Berlin succeeded once gathering points at the GT1 World Championship. He has been on position six at the championship race the 2nd of May at Silverstone (England).
Something likewise should follow at Le Castellet now. "To forecast a position is very complicated because of the fact that we have to carry a lot of rear weight. We will know more after the training on Friday", underlines the Berlin. "Last time at Czech Brunn we showed that we have a very fast car". On 23rd of May Stefan Mucke drove the fastest lap but he had to stable the Aston Martin DBR9 because of a technical damage at the half time of the race during driver's change.
