Scuderia Playteam Sarafree confident for Oschersleben weekend
Thursday, July 05, 2007 - Scuderia Playteam Sarafree heads to the fifth round of the season this weekend at the Oschersleben circuit in Germany determined to secure a big points haul and fight for victory.
Giambattista Giannocaro, team owner and driver commented, "I am excited to experience the Oschersleben track where Ive never driven before. Were all looking forward to a very competitive weekend now that we no longer have the 40kg weight penalty. At the last round at our home race in Monza, the weight penalty turned out to be more of a problem than we anticipated. With Maseratis data and the experience of Andrea Bertolini, a multiple winner on this track, the track should be good for our MC12 and therefore our expectations are quite high."
Alessandro Pier Guidi has driven on this track in F3000 and commented," It may be not the same when you have been on a track with another Formula, but it saves a bit of time learning the way round and you can focus more on fine tuning your strategy for the weekend. Im confident of a good weekend ahead."
Andrea Bertolini added, "It is going to be my fifth year on this track and I've won three times and finished second once between 2003 and 2006. As last years winner I know by experience that this circuit should suit our Maserati MC12 well. We lost too many points in Monza and we will push 110 per cent to make up for it here."
Andrea Piccini added, "Oschersleben is a good challenge for us drivers and has some great corners. You need to be precise and find a good rhythm. I believe that well be as competitive here as we were in like Bucharest."
For all four Italian drivers in both cars, the Spa tests last week provided good experience of mixed and continually changing weather conditions.
