Pole Position in GT : Walter Lechner Jr - nr 4 Konrad Motorsport Saleen S7 : "The qualifying today was good - very close. It was the closest qualifying session of the season I think. We tried a new type of tyres on the front, which were very good. It was not an easy qualifying session for us, though, because we were struggling with the temperatures of our rear tyres. The car itself is great, though, and I feel we could have gone even quicker if it hadn't been for the tyre problem. When we saw the lap time, we were afraid that it wouldn't be fast enough to keep the Ferraris behind, but it worked out."
Pole Position in N-GT : Sascha Maassen - nr 99 Freisinger Motorsport Porsche 996 GT3-RS : "After our shunt in Imola, we arrived with a new chassis here. The team did a great job - the car was running fine from the first moment on. I'm glad I managed to find a more or less clean lap and didn't get stuck in the traffic. I'm happy with the session. The car was very good, and the tyres were at their best - the perfect conditions for a fast lap! It's difficult here, though, because there's a lot of dirt and stones on the track. I'm afraid we will see quite a few punctures during the race. The traffic is going to be an issue as well. The GT cars are faster - but not that much faster. It will be difficult for them to pass us, and it will be difficult for us to let them overtake without losing time."
2nd in GT : Fabrizio Gollin - nr 2 BMS Scuderia Ferrari 550 Maranello : "I have a good feeling with the car. Tomorrow, it will be very important for the Championship to see the finish line. Matteo [Bobbi] has been very unlucky this year. Now he's put back to the last position. It will be a good opportunity for me to gain a few more points and increase the gap. Having 100 kilos ballast weight will be difficult for the tyres, particularly at this track. It will be very difficult to finish the race without a mistake. Last year, only very few cars finished the race. So it's important to be careful!"
3rd in GT : Paolo Ruberti - nr 28 Graham Nash Motorsport Saleen S7 : "I'm very happy about the result - for both myself and the team. It was a very close qualifying in general; there are ten cars within one second. I hope we will be able to do good work tomorrow. With Wolfgang Kaufmann, I have a great teammate. For Jamie Wall, it's the first time in the car, but he's improving with every lap."
3rd in GT : Wolfgang Kaufmann - nr 28 Graham Nash Motorsport Saleen S7 : "Considering that I only knew for sure that I would be racing here on Wednesday this week, I'm very very happy. I hope I can help Graham, the team and Dunlop to get a good result here, because they surely deserve it. They've been working like mad, and always were in a good position in training, but then bad luck struck in the races. I hope we can finish among the top five tomorrow. Let's not talk about the podium yet, but a good result would be great."
2nd in N-GT : Christian Pescatori - nr 62 GPC Giesse Ferrari 360 Modena : "We did a lot of work for the race today. We only used one set of new tyres, because we want to keep the others for tomorrow. We want to start the race on a new set of tyres. It's the first time my teammate [Vincent Vosse] is in the car, but he's doing great. He's very fast, and very professional."
2nd in N-GT : Vincent Vosse - nr 62 GPC Giesse Ferrari 360 Modena : "This is not only my first time in the car, it's my first time in the N-GT category. The car is going really well, and the team has done everything to ensure that I feel at ease with the car. We've done good work so far and prepared the car well. The car is really good to drive, and I think it will be fine for the race. The difficult part compared to driving in GT is that you really have to keep a close eye on your mirrors. But I am very pleased to be back in the FIA GT Championship. Even if I did the 24 Hours of Spa, I wanted to do other races, and the team proposed that I should do this race, which really pleased me. I'm one of the highest point scorers in the FIA GT Championship [ 6th highest] and it was important to be here and to build something up for next year."
3rd in N-GT : Stephane Ortelli - nr 50 Freisinger Yukos Motorsport Porsche 996 GT3-RS : "We were not all that far behind the others this morning, and were even closer this afternoon. The weight penalties may be bad for us, but I have to say that they're good for the Championship. When you look at the lap times, you can see how close it is! I'm certain we will get to see a good show tomorrow, which is a great thing for the Championship."
4th in GT : Matteo Bobbi - nr 1 BMS Scuderia Italia Ferrari 550 Maranello : "It was a very bad day for me. We have a broken engine and have to start from last position. I could only do three laps in the first qualifying today - and what's worse, the engine broke on my fastest lap. I hope we can finish in front of Babini tomorrow so we can stay ahead of him in the Championship. My goal is the second place in the Drivers Championship, and I think we can do that. We are very fast, the car is perfect. If it hadn't been for the engine we would have been able to fight for pole position today."
4th in GT : Gabriele Gardel - nr 1 BMS Scuderia Italia Ferrari 550 Maranello : "We had a car which could have been fighting for pole. Everybody saw that we were competitive when we set the fastest time in free practice yesterday. Matteo [Bobbi] did a good lap time this morning. Not a wonderful lap, but it was good. But then the engine was playing up. We will now try to score as many points as possible tomorrow. The Championship is still open, there are three races to go, thirty points to get. To hold on to second position is what we hope we can achieve. Catching Fabrizio [Gollin] is a just dream, he's so far ahead, but we'll see. We were very unlucky this season. But all things considered, when you're still in second position with all this bad luck, that's not so bad, I think."
5th in GT : Andrea Bertolini - nr 33 AF Corse Maserati MC12 : "I'm very happy. We've changed a lot of things since Friday. I'm happy with the balance of the car now. I just hope it's not going to rain, because we've done a lot of work on the set-up for dry conditions. We used two new sets of tyres, one for the morning session and one in the afternoon. In the second session, the track was a lot slower because of the higher temperatures, though. We changed the car to the race set-up in the second qualifying. I won here last year in N-GT, but to repeat it in GT this season will be difficult."
8th in GT : Karl Wendlinger - nr 17 JMB Racing Ferrari 575 M Maranello : "Overall, the qualifying has gone well. I set my best lap with my second set of tyres, after I was stuck in traffic with the first set. I could have been about one or two tenths faster, maybe, if it hadn't been for this. So I think we can be content with our speed. In the afternoon, we were doing consistent lap times with the used tyres. We're quite happy!"
9th in GT : Uwe Alzen - nr 5 Vitaphone Racing Team Saleen S7 : "Everything seems to be working against us this weekend. With the engine change on Friday, we will have to start from the back of the grid tomorrow. But we weren't holding back today - there was just nothing we could do. The car is lacking top speed. We're about seven or eight km/h slower, no matter what we do. The engine isn't working properly, most of the time it's running on only 7 cylinders. But the race is long and we have to try and stay on the track, then we'll see where we will be. I seriously doubt that we can work wonders tomorrow, though. We have the information that it will rain tomorrow, so that will make things extra hard for us."
15th in GT : Andrea Piccini - nr 24 Dams Lamborghini Murcielago R-GT : "It was not the best day for us. We had a good free practice yesterday and we were expecting a similar result today. But then we had a transmission problem in the morning - the drive shaft broke - and we lost most of the first session because of that. We could only do a total of three laps in the morning session, and on top of that, I made a mistake in the best lap. We're fifteenth now, but we easily could have been within the top ten. The second qualifying went a lot better, we set the fourth quickest time of the session. At the end of the day, we're happy with the car, we were simply unlucky. The problem is that it's very difficult to overtake on this track, so we'll see how it goes tomorrow."
6th in N-GT : Maciej Marcinkiewicz - nr. 69 Proton Competition Porsche 996 : "We had a problem with the suspension yesterday. On the first lap of the first free practice session, the shock absorber broke and we lost almost the complete first session. The problem for me is that I don't know the track, and only did three races this season. I spent more time at home than in the race car, and I'm just lacking the mileage. But I'm improving lap by lap, and Christian [Ried], who has more experience here, gave me some advice on braking points and such after the practice."
