Sports car pilot Stefan Mucke gained points for the third time on Sunday on position five at the home race of the GT1 World on the Nurburgring
Berlin/Nurburgring (rol/ot) Ending the races 11 and 12 of the FIA GT1 World Championship last weekend (28th / 29th of August) on the Nurburgring on position five the sixth season event was successful for German sports car pilot Stefan Mucke. The Aston Martin works driver from Berlin that is sharing the cockpit of the DBR9 with his Dane driver colleague Christoffer Nygaard for the Team Young Driver AMR (Paderborn/Copenhagen) gained points for the third time at the Championship Race and did it as good as at the Silverstone heat. The best result in Qualifying Race yet for the duo has been position three in the 9th season run at Spa-Francorchamps.
The home race at the Nurburgring started off with the best lap time at the training on Friday (27th of August) for Stefan Mucke. On Saturday the 28 year old has been on position two at the second qualifying. In the deciding time training Christoffer Nygaard has been on position eight. At the one hour qualifying race on Saturday Stefan Mucke had to start from that position. He assigned the car on position five to his team colleague that ended the race on position nine. At the one hour Championship Race on Sunday Stefan Mucke assumed the DBR9 on position six at the half time of the race and after a great catch up race he ended on position five in the last lap.
"We can be satisfied with that placing, because we started the race on position nine. The car has been very good so I could be very fast on track", told the 28 year old. "I am happy about this ranking and the championship points. That has been a good start into the second season half." Winners of the races have been Mucke's team colleagues Darren Turner (Great Britain) and Tomas Enge (Czech Republic) in the Aston Martin sister car. The next season event of the FIA GT1 World Championship is scheduled from 17th to 19th of September on the Algarve track at Portugal.
