Gabriele Lancieri makes his debut on the Lister Storm at the Spa 24 Hour competition in the FIA GT Championship.
After competing on board the Uboldi Corse Team car in the Monza race for the Euro 3000 Series, Gabriele Lancieri will go from a single-seater to a covered wheel sports car. Gabriele will make his debut in the first class category of the FIA GT and will compete in the prestigious Spa 24 hour race behind the wheel of the Lister Storm that is owned by the English team Lister Cars Ltd . His team-mates will be Andrea Piccini, David Sterckx and another driver may possibly be added in the next few days.
The FIA GT Championship is on the whole the premier class in "grand touring cars". We can very well also describe this championship as the Formula 1 of covered wheels. This championship competes on the most prestigious race tracks and big car manufacturers take part in this competition (Ferrari, Lister, Chrysler Viper, Saleen and very soon Maserati).Further information on the championship is available on the official website: www.fiagt. "I'm setting off on a new adventure. I've just made an agreement with Lister Cars Ltd to race in the Spa 24 Hours competition that has been added to the prestigious international FIA GT Championship. This is a very important step that will enrich my experience and guarantee a lot of promotion for my sponsors. Seeing that this will be my first time in this type of car, I know that I may suffer a little at the beginning. Luckily, there will be a free practice session on Thursday that will help me better understand the car. I will listen to Andrea Piccini's valuable advice. Andrea who has participated with the Lister throughout all the season, can surely help me adapt to the car. By doing this, I can then give the team a hand until they obtain positive results. I would like to thanks both Andrea Piccini who has supported my candidacy and Giovanni Minardi who is giving me a great opportunity for my future in the motor sport world."
Giovanni Minardi , Manager
"I'm very happy for Gabriele. I'm happy because he will have the opportunity to compete in a very prestigious and demanding race. Moreover, he will compete with a very competitive team and by Andrea Piccini's side, who for the last two years has been one of the fastest drivers in the FIA GT. I believe that Lancieri should continue his career in the covered wheel category. Even though this is his first time in this category, I hope that is his chance to prove his skill."
