During the successful warm up for Matech Competition on Sunday, Richard Westbrook scored the best time with car no.5 and car no.6 took the 3rd.
Richard Westbrook and Thomas Mutsch, in Matech Ford GT1 no.5, took the start of the Championship race fro last place due to the crash during the Qualifying race yesterday. They both did a great stint but luck wasn't on Matech's side today. Richard was doing his best to get back into the top 10 during his stint and after 13 laps, he was 14th. After the driver change, Thomas Mutsch did an amazing stint with a great fight with Maserati no.33 and then with the Aston Martin no.9 for several laps. On lap 32, Thomas and 3 others drivers were very close: only a few millimeters separating the cars! Unfortunately, during the last lap, the battle with the Lamborghini no.24 was so hard that Thomas Mutsch spun and lost 2 positions. Matech Ford GT1 no.5 finishes the first Championship race of South America in P-14.
The drivers of Matech Ford GT1 no.6 were a little bit luckier as they finished the race in P-8 despite some problems. Firstly, Neel Jani took a good start from 7th place. Because of so many crashes at the starts in this Championship, he decided to be quiet and calm, and to avoid some cars he had to drive on the dirty side of the track and was then 11th. Then he overtook and came back up to P-8 for the driver change. Nicolas Armindo and Neel Jani lost a little bit of time during the pit stop and at the end of Nicolas' stint, some problems with the gear box appeared but he managed to finish the race in P-8.

Richard Westbrook : "Our weekend was ruined yesterday when Frank Kechele took off Thomas Mutsch and we had to start from the back of the grid. We overtook a lot of cars but our car wasn't quite quick enough today so we couldn't really fight for the positions where we wanted to be.
"It was just too hot for us today. We struggled with engine and gearbox temperatures. It was the same for all the Fords. It's a disappointing end to a very frustrating weekend."

Neel Jani : "After yesterday where we were really quick in the race, actually the quickest car at the end, I was hoping today for at least a top five result so to finish eighth I am not very happy. I got a good start, I was being a bit careful at the beginning and then I caught the train of the leading cars and we were looking good.
"Unfortunately we slipped back to eighth again after the pit stop and we had a gearbox problem towards the end of the race so we know we can do a lot better for sure"
