01/10/2006 - Matteo Bobbi gives a twist to the FIA GT2 championship fight at Budapest: the Italian champion, with his team mate Jaime Melo, finished today's race on the second position, after the fourth place in yesterday's qualifying. Salo-Aguas, the couple of closest opponents, scored fifth.

With two races left, the drivers championship sees Bobbi-Melo with 67 points, 12 points ahead Salo-Aguas, that have 55 points overall. The AF Corse team, with 122 points mathematically wins the teams title. Next round of FIA GT, the second to last race of the season, will be at the Italian circuit of Adria on the 15th of October.

Matteo Bobbi
"Twelve points ahead with two races remaining are a solid advantage, but they do not give us the mathematical certainty of the title. We made another step forward that will allow us to have the chance to win the title at Adria, but we need to keep the concentration high till our objective will be reached. We are really satisfied for winning the teams title here. It is a very good score, especially if we consider the great gap with other teams".
