United Autosports Attracts High Profile West London Audi Relationship For Maiden European Motorsport Campaign

Penske Automotive Group's "flagship" Audi Centre supports new "customer" Audi team

World's biggest Audi Centre puts US owned, UK operated team on the road

United Autosports will be supported by the world's largest Audi Centre throughout its maiden motor racing season putting West London Audi well and truly on the European map this year.

The American-owned United Autosports team will campaign a brace of Audi R8 LMS sports cars in the FIA GT3 European Championship plus the annual Spa 24 Hours with backing from the magnificent "flagship" Audi Centre.

The Sytner Group, the UK's leading retailer of new and used prestige and specialist cars, operates the "landmark" Audi Centre which was opened last October. Established by motorsport enthusiast Frank Sytner and his brother, Alan, in Nottingham in 1968, American Roger Penske purchased the Sytner Group in February 2002.

Penske is owner of the USA's second largest car retail Group (Penske Automotive Group) and himself been involved in motorsport, both as a driver and nowadays a team entrant, for over 50 years.

"It's fantastic that Roger Penske and his magnificent West London Audi dealership is supporting United Autosports' first motorsport foray in Europe," confirmed Zak Brown, Chairman and Co-Owner of United Autosports.

"I have admired Roger and the way he operates his business and his ultra-successful motor racing teams in various North American championships and hope some of his influence and achievements rub off on to our new team."

The multi-storey West London Audi facility also features the Audi quattro rooms designed to accommodate meetings, conferences and entertaining. This business and creative complex is arranged over the top two floors of the imposing glass fronted building which is prominently located adjacent to the elevated section of the M4 motorway in Brentford, West London.

Managing Director and Co-Owner of United Autosports, Richard Dean, who co-ordinates the team from its base in Birstall near Leeds, West Yorkshire, added: "Having West London Audi on the flanks of both Audi R8 LMS sports cars is a great endorsement for United Autosports which was only launched last winter.

"The fact that Roger Penske acknowledges our team and wants to be associated with it is a tremendous fillip for everyone connected with the team."

United Autosports is making its race debut in the opening rounds of the Avon Tyres British GT Championship at Oulton Park (Cheshire, England) on Easter Monday (April 5) -- a one-off appearance in the British series prior to contesting the 12-race, six-venue FIA GT3 European Championship which begins at Silverstone (May 1-2).

West London Audi is loaning United Autosports two Audi A5 Sportbacks while VIP guests and competition winners will attend many of the FIA races throughout the year. The London facility will host a team launch party on Tuesday April 27. Meanwhile United Autosports will display its racecars at West London Audi, seminars and motor shows with the drivers also attending functions in the coming months.

Ray Campbell, Head of Business at West London Audi, sees the launch as another demonstration of his company's passion for competing on the race track. "Both Sytner Group & Penske Automotive Group has an incredibly successful history on the race track and we are delighted to be working alongside the United Autosports team, with the outstanding Audi R8 LMS sports cars.

"The heritage of our business comes from people who are as passionate about racing as the team at United Autosports, so it is fitting that West London Audi is able to support their FIA GT3 European Championship debut."

Developed by Audi Sport in cooperation with quattro GmbH, the Audi R8 LMS won the FIA GT3 European Championship, ADAC-GT Masters and Belgian GT Championship and achieved Nurburgring 24 Hours and Spa 24 Hours class honors in its debut 2009 season scoring a total 23 victories.

The R8 LMS is powered by a V10, 5.2-liter engine and unlike its road-going derivatives, the four-wheel-drive R8 Coupe and R8 Spyder, the latter unveiled at West London Audi's grand inauguration ceremony, is rear-wheel-drive to conform with FIA regulations.

The Audi R8 was named 2010 World Performance Car at the World Car of the Year Awards ceremony at the New York Auto Show this week. This is the second time that the R8 has won the World Performance Car award: the V8-powered R8 took this award in 2008.

Motors TV To Screen Races "Live"

Motors TV will re-affirm its commitment to top-class sportscar and GT racing this season by screening the FIA GT3 European Championship "live". The 'High Speed Television' channel, which already shows in-depth highlights of many of Europe's best domestic GT racing series, will continue to bring viewers the very finest coverage of the discipline by screening all 12 races from the high-profile six-round series "live" or delayed-as-live.

Motors TV, Europe's only TV channel solely dedicated to motorsport, can be found on Sky Channel 413 and Virgin Media 545 in the UK. Coverage starts from Race 1 at Silverstone on Saturday May 1 at 1.45pm (BST) and Race 2 on Sunday May 2 12noon (BST).
