Motors TV to screen FIA GT3 European Championship LIVE in 2010
Motors TV will re-affirm its commitment to top-class sportscar and GT racing this season by screening the FIA GT3 European Championship LIVE.
The 'High Speed Television' channel, which already shows in-depth highlights of many of Europe's best domestic GT racing series, will continue to bring viewers the very finest coverage of the discipline by screening all 12 races from the high-profile six-round series LIVE or delayed-as-live.
The FIA GT3 European Championship has proved to be one of motorsport's biggest success stories since its creation in 2006. The series has attracted near-capacity grids for the past few seasons, with 12 different marques; Ford, Aston Martin, Corvette, Ferrari, Porsche, Jaguar, BMW, Audi, Lamborghini, Dodge, Ascari and Morgan, represented in 2009.
Fred Viger, Motors TV's Head of Programming and Acquisitions: "2010 is shaping up to be a very exciting year for the channel and for motorsport in general. We are delighted to be able to add live coverage of the fantastic GT3 European Championship to our stable of live events. Motors TV has always supported GT racing at all levels, so to have such a high profile championship, live, is a huge fillip for our loyal viewers."
Stephane Ratel, founder and CEO or SRO Motorsports Group: "The FIA GT3 European Championship is Europe's premier GT Championship and the most exciting motorsport series on the continent, and we are delighted that Motors TV will broadcast the races live across Europe in 2010. Last year's championship saw 15 drivers and four marques coming into the final two-rounds at Zolder, still in with a chance of lifting the title. I'm sure that we will see another fantastic season and Motors TV's viewers will get to watch some of the world's most prestigious marques in close combat at a range of fantastic circuits."
The channel's GT and sportscar racing roster will also include coverage of the American Le Mans Series, with the 12 Hours of Sebring and Petit Le Mans races LIVE, International GT Open, British GT Championship, French (FFSA) GT Championship, Dutch Supercar Challenge, Superstars GT Sprint and GT Cup Championship in 2010.
The news comes on the back of several other exciting additions to the Motors TV schedule in 2010, including highlights of the World Rally Championship, the launch of the channel's own Motors TV Live Race Days and an expansion of its commitment to cover the 'Best of British Motorsport'.
Motors TV, Europe's only TV channel solely dedicated to motorsport, can be found on Sky Channel 413 and Virgin Media 545 in the UK.
