First Row For Erik Janis In Monza

Erik Janis shined in today's qualification for tomorrow's race of the European FIA GT3 race in Monza, Italy. He set the second fastest time which means first row on the grid tomorrow. The 19-year-old driver will alternate behind the wheel with Jaromir Jirik, who set 17th best time. The duo will be in charge of Austrian s berg racing's Lamborghini Gallardo GT3.

As usual, two one-hour runs will be held tomorrow. Janis' time determined the starting position for the first one, Jirik's for the second. The pilots will swap in both races. Another Lamborghini on the track close to the city of Milan will be led by Slovak Jan Danis and Russian Vadim Kuzminych. This crew set 19th time in the first qualification. And last but not least, youngsters Jiri Skula and Martin Matzke will drive Martini Callaway Racing's Corvette Z06R GT3.

Erik Janis: "The free practice didn't go too well mainly because of engine troubles. I'm glad it was better in the qualification. I was looking forward to the circuit but I have to admit I miss more technical places. Spots where you can move forward. The fast profile suits Corvettes much more - they proved it in the second qualification."
