MARTINI CALLAWAY RACING STARTS THE 2007 CAMPAIGN

Martini Callaway Racing took part in the first two official test days for the 2007 FIA GT3 Championship, held in Monza. The team brought on track two Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3, one for the returning duo composed by Uli Berberich-Martini and DTM legend Klaus Ludwig, and the other for the talented Czech drivers Martin Matzke and Jiri Skula. As the cars will enter their second season, the updates made by the team to the oil system should fix the reliability issues shown last year, and guarantee a safe place among the best championship contenders.

On Thursday, the 16 car of Berberich-Martini and Ludwig run consistently, setting the second best time of the day in 1:56.840, and was also driven by Christophe Bouchut, FIA Official tester, to define the adjustments necessary to balance performances. Matzke and Skula successfully tried to get the right confidence with the car, constantly improving their pace through the 3 sessions, until a problem stopped their run, late in the afternoon.

On Friday, Martin Matzke and Jiri Skula were forced to write their sessions off. By the way, Klaus Ludwig did an awesome job during the last session of the day, turning the second overall fastest lap in 1:55.078. "Whe had only small changes, nothing dramatic, for 2007" said Ludwig. "We tested a little bit of everything on the set-up: shock absorbers, camber, and so on". Martini Callaway Racing will now go back to its headquarters in Leingarten to prepare for the start of the season, the 5th and 6th of May in Silverstone.
