POUCHELON ANNOUNCES GT3 SUPERTEAM FOR SPA 24H
Anthony Reid announced during the press conference at the Spa 24h official test that he is leading the Pouchelon Racing GT3 'Superteam' which will contest the 24 hours of Spa on the 29th of July. The team is drawn from the cream of the drivers currently contesting the full FIA GT3 European Championship and must stand among the favourites for the GT3 class in the classic endurance race. The team members are:
ANTHONY REID - Racing the Pouchelon Racing Viper SRT-10 in FIA GT3 this year, Anthony has already been on the podium and is currently 5th in the championship. Having tackled Le Mans 6 times so far with a best result of 3rd overall in 1990, he is no stranger to 24h races.
IAN KHAN - Racing in a Ferrari 430 in FIA GT3 this year, the Spa 24h will be Ian's 26th 24h race! Having shared the Pouchelon Viper with Anthony Reid at the Pau GP earlier this summer and taken 2 podiums from the 2 races, Ian knows what to expect from the car.
PAUL VAN SPLUNTEREN - Racing a Porsche 997 GT3 in FIA GT3 and currently 3rd in the Porsche class, Paul has proven his speed and racecraft in FIA GT3 so far this year. Having tested the Viper at Spa, Paul is looking forward to the 24h race.
MAXIME DUMAREY - The youngest driver in FIA GT3, Maxime is driving a Porsche 997 GT3 in the European championship. He is no stranger to 24h races though and Spa this year will be his 3rd. He showed good pace in testing at Spa despite being uncomfortable in the Viper because of his height.
"We will run 2 cars in the 24h" said team principal Alex Pouchelon this week "and we expect a strong performance from the GT3 'Superteam'. It is the first 24h race for the Pouchelon Racing team and this presents many challenges but with the drivers having experienced more than 30 24h races between them, we have a great foundation to build on".
The full line-up for the 2nd car is still to be announced but it will include Gilles Duqueine, the most talked about driver in FIA GT3. "Gilles will anchor the second car" said Alex Pouchelon "he led GT3 at Silverstone and again at Oschersleben, he has impressed everyone this year".
