Two losses for Kenneth Heyer at Silverstone in the FIA-GT3 European Championship.
At the opening round of FIA-GT3 European Championship at Silverstone the Audi Team Rosberg with Kenneth Heyer and Johannes Seidlitz had a difficult weekend. The paring was fastest of the eight launched Audis in both free practice but only in the middle of the 30 car strong field. This was also truth for the two timed practice sessions with place16 and place 9. The motto was, as in Oschersleben to bring out the best current possibilities out of the Audi R8 LMS and the drivers.
Kenneth Heyer: „We have absolutely no chance on the straights. If we do everything right and find an optimal matching, then place 6-8 is maybe possible. We can't go with the past of the top 5."
Kenneth was doing the start of the first race. He could make a few places lying on 11th place until Manuel Rodriges in the Hexis Aston Martin braked to late and crashed left rear into the Audi from Team Rosberg. Kenneth spins and took the race with a damaged car from last position again. Two laps later the Team and Kenneth decided to give up and to go to the pits because the car was impossible to drive after the crash. While entering the pits Kenneth recognized that the rear of the Audi was in flames and the Marshalls have to work to get the fire under control. The Team Rosberg makes the impossible come true and repaired the heavily damaged Audi to the early hours of Sunday morning. A great job from the hole team.
The start of the second race on Sunday started on a still partly wet track and Johannes Seidlitz who took the start for second races decided like the rest of the grid to start with slick tyres. Very difficult conditions for all drivers and it was not long until the first incident. Dino Lunardi in a Corvette spun after the first corner and Johannes Seidlitz started from 9th position lost some places because of the trouble of that situation. For Heyer and Seidlitz it was even worst to hold the pace of the front cars and in the middle of the race they had also some technical failure and have to give up the race again.
Kenneth Heyer: "I hope the FIA allowed the Audis quickly to reduce some weight and give us back the raff as they have done in the French GT3 Championship after the first weekend. I hope that it will happen before the second ADAC GT Masters weekend at the Sachsenring so that we are also able to fight for the top 5."
"Like the season opening Weekend in Oschersleben you can see that the Audi R8 LMS currently because of the rules with increased weight and reduced speed had hardly to fight to get good results. We had therefore attempted to do pour best to get good results." Said Team coordinator Peter Reinisch. "We hope the FIA changes the technical rules classifications and making concessions to us, so that we could be more competitive in the future."
