20 year old Belgian Enzo Ide, third in last's year FIA GT3 European Championship, made his debut in the GT World Championship 2012 in Nogaro last weekend. With a fifth place in the Championship Race on monday, Enzo Ide and his Italian team mate Francesco Castellacci have scored strong points in their AF Corse Ferrari 458 Italia. Enzo Ide not only took a strong start in the World Championship, his start of the race, was one that many fans will remember!

After finishing 10th in the qualifying race, Enzo's start in the Championship Race on Eastern Monday would be very important for the outcome of race. “I think I made an almost perfect start...”, tells Enzo Ide right after his pitstop. “I anticipated perfectly to the green lights and went into the first corner in fifth place, which was also our final result in the opening round of this year's world championship. This fifth place means a lot to me, as my choice for this championship was not an easy one to make. This is only my third year in competition and already performing on this level is fantastic!”

Enzo Ide was fast throughout the weekend and it didn't take long before he was on the pace during free practice. His performance in qualifying, where he drove the Ferrari 458 in Q1 and Q3 was much better than he even expected, with a brilliant 5th overall in the last session. “This is what teamwork is all about, I worked a lot with my team mate Francesco Castellacci and our engineer and the result was this 5th place on the grid, certainly not bad for two young drivers, who are new to this championship.”

Enzo Ide is now more than ver eager to perform in front of his home crowd, on the 21st and 22nd of April in Zolder.
