ASTON MARTIN RACING CUSTOMERS EYE GT1 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

Gaydon, 13 July 2009. Aston Martin Racing is considering its options after receiving interest from customers who want to compete in the new 2010 FIA GT1 World Championship, announced by the World Motor Sport Council.

The Aston Martin DBR9 is the customers' preferred choice of car, however it would require significant re-engineering as well as FIA waivers to be eligible under the championship's new regulations.

"It is virtually impossible for us to develop a new car for the championship, but we could prepare a package of modifications for the DBR9 in time for next season," said Aston Martin Racing Commercial Director, Tony Schulp. "The DBR9 is a proven car with a great pedigree. If the necessary waivers are granted by the FIA then we are ready to support our customers who wish to see it continue to race."
