Nicky Pastorelli FIA GT1 Yas Marina Race Report
Nicky Pastorelli looks back on the first FIA GT1 World Championship race with mixed feelings. The Lamborghini Murcielago LP670 RS of the ALL- INKL.com Muennich Motorsport team showed its potential but also had its share of start up problems.
Nicky Pastorelli: "During the free practice session we had a good number of laps to get to know the circuit and the car. In the Qualifying session we were able to do the laps to warm up the tyres but because of the unfortunate accident of Natacha Gachnang, who had a lucky escape, the session was stopped. We never got to do the quick qualifying laps needed for the race."
"My co-driver Dominik Schwager started the Qualifying race from 23rd position. I took over, but had to give up in lap 19 with a broken gearbox. The team realy did a great job trying to repair the gearbox but as there is only an hour between the Qualifying race and the starting procedures of the Championship race, there was just not enough time to do all what was needed."
"In the Championship race I started from the pitlane and joined the race after a couple of laps but more to collect data than anything else. We were happy to check the potential of the car in racing circumstances."
"I was very impressed with the circuit. The lay-out is great and though the heat was realy bad, I did enjoy the weekend. I feel happy in the team and it feels good to be part of such a professional and dedicated group of people. The next race in Silverstone is in two weeks time (1and 2 May) and I hope we will be able to show what we can do. I am looking forward to it."
