Revolution Wheels heads to Ulster
The Revolution Wheels Rally Team driver Euan Thorburn heads to this weekends Ulster Rally aiming for another strong result, on the back of his recent class win on the Isle of Man and another podium a fortnight ago in the Scottish Rally Championship.
Dave Weston Junior was scheduled to join fellow Scotsman Euan Thorburn in what would have been the youngest two car team line up in the series but unfortunately administrative issues meant that Weston Junior's co-driver is not registered for championship points and thus the 18 year old is unable to score team points.
Warren McKiernan, team principal, had this to say; Revolution Wheels were looking forward to working with Dave Weston Junior but unfortunately circumstances beyond our control have worked against us this time. We anticipate another strong run for Euan who has enjoyed a recent run of good results and we will be hoping that this weekend continues that trend.
After picking up the Pirelli Star Driver nomination for his strong run on the Jim Clark International Rally in June Euan and co-driver Campbell Roy finished fourth overall and first in class on their debut on the treacherous Rally Isle of Man in July. This along with their recent third overall on the Speyside Stages, a round of the Scottish Rally Championship, has given young Thorburn a big confidence boost
The Todd's Leap Ulster Rally is based in Antrim and runs over two days. The crews will have to face both the very changeable weather conditions and the unique high speed Irish tarmac roads and narrow lanes, balancing speed with caution on a rally that demands a fine balance of bravery and brains.
