BRC Competitors home and away
With Rally Isle of Man just two weeks away, it's amazing where competitors and cars from the Dulux Trade MSA British Rally Championship turn up, either in competition or promoting sponsors in the most unexpected places.
Alan Cookson and Jules Wilkinson's Friesian cow car Muriel has today been spotted at the Royal Highland Show in Edinburgh, the front-running BRC Subaru helping to promote their major sponsor Wiseman Dairies.
Further afield young Ramsport's Dave Weston Junior and Ieuan Thomas have also been seen but this time in Belgium, completing the shakedown before the start of this weekend's Ypres Rally, round six of the Intercontinental Challenge.
Several more Dulux Trade MSA British Rally Championship competitors are contesting events outside the series, both at home and overseas and it is great to see them being so successful.
Whilst Alastair Fisher has not had much luck this year in the BRC, he not only leads the Group N category in the Irish Tarmac Championship, but also heads the standings overall. Fiesta S2000 driver Craig Breen was third overall on the Rally of the Lakes and contested the Chatsworth Rally Show event, while Robert Barrable leads both the UK and Irish Citro0x00ebn Racing Trophies. Also at Chatsworth were Fins Jarkko Nikara and Matti Rantanen as well as Scotsman John MacCrone, all out in their R2 cars for a bit of fun at the show.
Jason Pritchard's move to four wheel drive has netted two outright victories on both asphalt and gravel at home in Wales and while we wait to see how fellow Impreza driver Weston Jnr gets on in Belgium, he started the season well with a win on the Border Counties rally on just his second outing in his new Impreza.
