Geoff Jones ready for BRC rally return
Renowned Welsh rally car preparation expert Geoff Jones will return to the top level of British Rallying when the Machynlleth based driver makes his competitive comeback on this weekends Jim Clark International Rally at the helm of a Team Revolution Wheels Subaru Impreza N14.
Geoff Jones, who runs the successful Geoff Jones Motorsport operation, is a former Nissan and Proton works driver, with numerous class awards under his belt, but this will be the first time that he has contested the Jim Clark International Rally. As such he is playing down his chances of challenging the front runners; the Jim Clark Rally is one that I have always wanted to contest and so I am really looking forward to this weekend! I haven't done a BRC round for ten years and haven't recce'd for an event since the Manx in 2004 so I think I'll be a little bit rusty at first!
I have to say a massive thanks to all of my sponsors for helping me contest this rally, Vulcan Fasteners, JLT, Cannock Electrical and Mechanical, S.A. Gas, Competition Car Insurance and obviously Geoff Jones Motorsport have all contributed massively, but a special thanks must go to Warren McKiernan at Revolution Wheels... it is an honour to represent the team this weekend and I look forward to repaying him with a bag full of team points on Saturday afternoon!
Geoff will be co-driven by Sam Collis in the Prodrive sourced Subaru N14 that his own team, Geoff Jones Motorsport, will run under the Team Revolution Wheels banner on this weekends third round of the 2009 MSA British Rally Championship.
The 2009 Jim Clark International Rally is based in Kelso, and features over 160 miles of high speed tarmac rallying spread over two days. The action begins with a ceremonial start in Edinburgh on Friday afternoon, followed by six stages on Friday night. Action resumes on Saturday morning with another 11 high speed tests before the ceremonial finish back in Kelso.
