Eastern promise as Beebe prepares fly on Manx
Nuneaton resident Matt Beebe is looking forward to returning to the Isle of Man, following on from a successful string of tarmac based events recently. The 2006 R3 British Rally Champion recently scored two class wins in a row in his trusty MG ZR160 and is now looking to make it three in a row.
Matt, who has multiple rallying titles to his name, kept himself busy in the break between the Jim Clark Rally and this weekends Rally Isle of Man by contesting his home event, the Rally of the Midlands. For the second year in a row Matt staged a giant killing performance on the 3 day event. En route to bringing his Hankook shod MG home sixth overall and 1st in class Matt managed to beat a number of far more powerful cars on what is generally considered to be an event that exposes underpowered cars.
The Rally of the Midlands went really well for me. We had a few small problems on the Jim Clark and so it was a good test to make sure that everything was sorted before we return to the Manx. I had a really good run there last year but anticipate a much stronger battle against the Suzuki's and Citroens this weekend. But I like a challenge!
Matt will be rejoined by Richard Mills, who co-drove Matt to a class win on the 2004 Jim Clark Rally en route to winning the 'stars of the future' championship. The pair will get to experience luxury when they fly across to the Isle of Man courtesy of Eastern Airlines, who have come on board to assist this talented youngster for the event. Roger Hage, Eastern Airways ground service manager, commented on the partnership 'Eastern Airlines is a friendly but professional airline, operating to the highest of standards, which is exactly how we see Matt. So it is with great pleasure that we can assist him on this rally!'
The 3 day marathon begins with 4 stages on Thursday 19th July before two full days of action, and ends with a ceremonial finish at the TT Grandstands in Douglas on Saturday afternoon.
