Beebe ready for the Big one!
After a 6 month lay off one of the brightest talents to emerge from British Rallying in recent years, Matt Beebe prepares for a full seasons assault on the Tesco 99 British Rally Championship.
Having dominated the MG ZR Championship for the past two seasons, Matt has made the step up to a more powerful MG ZR 160 as he takes on some of the UK's brightest prospects in the British Championship.
Despite having only been competing for 2 seasons, Matt has already shown remarkable speed and consistency to win the single make MG Championship twice. (He also won his class on his first ever rally, the 2004 North Humberside Rally.) Matt's 2005 season also included winning the inaugural BRC 'Stars of the Future' 1400cc Championship including 2 wins to his name. The season then culminated with a mature drive on the Wales Rally GB that saw the little MG stage a giant killing performance to not only win its class, but also receive the accolade of 1st 2wd Group N car home!
Although the car that Matt will be using in 2006 has suffered from a lack of development compared to the newer machinery that it will be going up against, Matt is confident that he can mix it with the best. In fact his confidence appears infectious as internationally renowned co-driver Gemma Price has agreed to sit alongside Matt this year.
'After the success of the last 2 seasons, the next step up is to the full BRC Internationals, where I will have the opportunity to experience recces and to develop my own pacenotes. Gemma has come on board as she is keen to assist in my development and I am sure I will benefit greatly from having such an experienced navigator by my side.'
Serviced by the North Warwickshire and Hinckley College Motorsport Academy, and with technical assistance from m3motorsport, this small and under funded team has high aspirations and is certainly one to watch.
The 2006 season begins with the Pirelli Rally in May. Based in and around some of the most famous rally stages in the United Kingdom, including the infamous 'killer Kielder' this event is not one to be taken lightly. Having won his class on both of his previous visits to Kielder Matt has fond memories 'I've had some good results here before. I love the stages, very fast and flowing, and they certainly separate the men from the boys and girls. This will give me a great opportunity to stretch the new cars legs, and I'm really looking forward to getting my season off the ground!'
