Jennie-Lee Hermansson Shines at the Manx!
Isle of Man, British Isles - Jennie-Lee Hermansson delivered a first- class performance this weekend when she achieved her best result this year in the fifth round of the Kwik Fit Pirelli British Rally Championship. She claimed 2nd place on the British Championship points table for Group N in the Production Class and celebrated being 1st lady and 22nd overall at the Gibbs Aquada Manx International Rally.
Delighted to be competing in her new N10 Subaru Impreza, Leg 1 saw her gently navigate her way through the ominous mist and dense fog, not to mention torrential rain, on one of the most challenging events of the season, and only her second tarmac event. With over 170 rally teams present over the weekend, the competition was fierce; nevertheless, she put in a steady pace and finished Leg One with no damage to the car and with her confidence building.
The competitors woke to glorious sunshine on day two, and Jennie-Lee's confidence continued to build as she maintained her steady pace whilst overtaking her rivals to move up the field. The weather conditions remained excellent for Leg 3, and Stages 20 and 21 saw her posting two fastest stage times in the Production Class, en route to her best final result of the season so far.
Currently the championship results stand with Jennie-Lee Hermansson in 15th place overall and 3rd in the Production Cup. With such a fantastic result from this weekend, 22 Motorsport is now 4th in the British Teams Championship with only 6 points separating 2nd, 3rd and 4th places.
The 22 Motorsport team stayed on the Isle long enough to celebrate their fabulous result, but are now back at their Banbury premises, preparing for the next round across the sea. The AnswerCall Direct Ulster Rally takes place from 3-4 September, 2004, and with Jennie-Lee Hermansson only 2 points away from
second and only 10 points away from 1st in her first year in the Production Cup, the Ulster Rally will prove to be a nail-biting and thrilling weekend.
Jennie-Lee Hermansson- "I still can't believe it. I went steadily while I got used to both my new N10 car and the tarmac, and I just wanted to achieve consistency here and concentrate on each stage one at a time. So for the team and me to accomplish my best career result ever is absolutely fantastic. I will be even better in Ulster. I can feel it because we are all working together and the car is just great."
Will Hunt- "We are all really proud of Jennie-Lee. The first day was a real challenge in such threatening weather conditions. Then, with a bit of improvement in the weather and an increased comfort level in her own car, she drove one of the best rallies of her career this weekend. We work very closely as a team and Jennie-Lee certainly delivered on her part of the deal - it is a great result for all of us."
