Theunissen signed "hat-trick" for Future World
Victory of Theunissen-Genten (Toyota Corolla WRC) at Omloop van Vlaanderen secured a successive third Belgian Rally title to Antwerpen-based squad Future World. Round 5 of Belgian Division 1 Championship was held this weekend in Roeselare. Theunissen took second win of the season, his Toyota Corolla WRC finished nearly five minute ahead of second placed Collard (Saxo S1600) with Gr.N leader, Colsoul (Lancer Evo VII) third.
After cancelled SS1, Theunissen took the leadership thank to a "scratch" in SS2. He ended Leg 1 (17 SS) with an advantage of 3'56" ahead of Collard. Because of a broken propshaft, Loix (Clio S1600) lost contact with leaders in S1600 category. Insiders were surprised when local police "flashed" six drivers and took their driving licence away for over speed. Official Fiat driver Cols (Punto S1600) was one of them and had to retire. Bruyneel (Celica GT-Four) went off in SS7 while Oates (Impreza WRC 2001) and Devos (Lancer Gr.A) were learning their new cars. Sunday at 16:00 PM, Theunissen took a dominant win and offered a third Belgian title to team Future World.
-" We are delighted with a third title in a row, told Gerard Magniette, team manager of Future World. We have a long-term relationship with all the Theunissen family and with Michelin, so we are pleased to make it successful again ! Rocco was the quickest driver in Spa and in Namur. He won the Bianchi and took a fourth podium in Ypres after being the first leader of the rally. His second win of the season in Roeselare has killed the championship... before last round, Rallye du Condroz. Well done Rocco, well done Lilly ! "
Future World is still leading the Swiss Rally Championship with Jaquillard (CH) while Kuzaj (PL) has won Bulgaria Rally Albena (ERC20) and INA Croatia Rally (ERC10).
