"What a great driver, I want to marry her!" Hugh MacGuire enthusiastically declared after his passenger ride with Swedish rally driver Jennie-Lee Hermansson at the BRC Live event in Nuneaton last month. The many die-hard fans, who braved the elements, were clearly impressed at the pace at which Jennie-Lee and co-driver Howard Davies flew around the stage throughout the morning, and in the afternoon it was the turn of the lucky raffle prize winners to sit beside the flying Swede, her skill and speed giving them a day to remember.
It was not just the fans that were won over by Jennie-Lee's superb driving and sparkling personality; several of her fellow competitors visited the 22 Motorsport service area to chat with Jennie-Lee and show their respect for her obvious talent. The BRC Live gave Jennie-Lee her first opportunity to drive on tarmac and her ability to learn quickly and adapt with ease and accomplishment shone through.
Jennie-Lee is intending to fly to the UK for events and testing, and in between her hectic schedule will still find time to maintain a strict fitness regime and plenty of driving practice, through the forests of her Swedish homeland.
The 22 Motorsport technicians, immaculate in their signature blue and gold overalls, are fired up and can't wait to begin contesting the 2004 Championship. With Jennie-Lee's driving talents, Howard Davies' experience and the professionalism of the 22 Motorsport team, this is going to be an exciting and successful season for all involved.
Catch Jennie-Lee's debut rally in the British Rally Championship this weekend at the Pirelli International Rally on 23rd and 24th April 2004 in Gateshead's Baltic Square.
Jennie-Lee Hermansson, 22 Motorsport Rally Driver: "Even though the BRC Live was a spectator event, it was very good practice for me. I have already learned the importance of using the handbrake and how to adjust the set-up of the car for tarmac conditions. I am really lucky to have this chance to run with 22 Motorsport, they are a great team of people, and with Howard Davies as my co-driver again I could not be in a better position to start the season".
Will Hunt, 22 Motorsport Team Manager: "We have a real chance to challenge for the top positions this year with Jennie-Lee and we are really looking forward to the first event. We have been developing the car for Jennie-Lee all winter, and she has been working hard on her own preparations, and on the BRC Live she demonstrated how well everything comes together when we want it to. Jennie-Lee is not only very talented but inspires confidence in the whole team and is a joy to work with; we think we've found a winning combination and are very optimistic for the future".
