Team 26 Ready to Rock the Boat in 2009

British-based Supersport squad Team 26 has today outlined its bold intentions to conquer the powerboat world, as it readies its new Sterling-powered Donzi hull for the 2009 Powerboat P1 World Championship. The boat, a harmonious marriage between a brand new Donzi 38ZRC hull and two Sterling V8 engines, is the product of months of hard work by legendary boat builder Nico Bertels and recently underwent extensive testing near to Bertels base in Willebroek, Belgium.

Spearheaded by team owner and pilot Daniel Cramphorn and throttleman Kim Collins, the intriguingly named Team 26 took the Powerboat paddock by storm at the end of last season, securing third place in their maiden P1 weekend at Vigo in Spain. The success of the recent Belgian test and the clear potential of their new powerboat package has left the team optimistic ahead of the 2009 season-opening event in Malta in May.

"We are the youngest, most enthusiastic team in P1 with a huge desire to win the championship," said Team Owner and Pilot Dan Cramphorn. "We've already proven that we have high potential from our maiden wildcard events last season but now the goalposts are that much higher. The Powerboat P1 World Championship carries with it more prestige than any other and the competition is as close as you can get, which will make our accomplishments even more exciting!"

"We have taken a completely different approach to this season based on the results we achieved in 2008," he continued. "We decided that elevated ambitions demanded a new approach so we opted for a brand new boat with which we hope to fight for race wins this season. The Donzi- Sterling alliance promises a lot but it has already demonstrated enormous potential in the testing carried out so far. The outright speed is pretty awesome and I can't wait to truly unleash our baby on to the competition in Malta. We have tried to leave no stone unturned in the pursuit of success this year, but we know our greatly experienced competitors will be a tough match so we have an even greater challenge on our hands."

As the first race of the season approaches, Team 26 still has room on board for any companies or brands looking to share in their Supersport success. "We want to share our success on the water and are looking for partners to join us in our quest for glory. We are the P1 new boys and we feel that there is no better time for people to get on board. We don't want any one to miss the boat!"

The first race weekend on the 2009 Powerboat P1 calendar takes place in Malta in May.
