IHBA Texas Shootout Brings High Speed Excitement to Waco
(June 22, 2001) Austin, TX --- For nearly 30 years the high speed sound and power of drag boat racing has resonated off the banks of the Brazos River in Waco, Texas but on June 30-July1 during the 26th annual IHBA Texas Shootout excitement levels will reach a new high. Over 100 professional race teams are expected to descend on the Brazos and try their luck during the 5th national event of the IHBA season.
"Waco has such a strong tradition with professional drag boat racing that the Texas Shootout is one of the highlights of the season. Many of our biggest stars of drag boat racing made their names on the Brazos River. The location of the racing venue is one of the most picturesque in the country and the water on the Brazos can really make for some fast time and high mph," said Doug Fuqua, IHBA Chief Marketing Officer.
" Racing in Waco is one of the highlights of the season for most of the teams. The fans are great and the venue is terrific. The teams should put up strong performance numbers and this year with the high level of competition in all the professional classes the weekend is shaping up to be a good one," added Fuqua.
