August 3, 2001 (Austin, TX) --- As the International Hot Boat Series (IHBA) returns from its successful east coat swing high speeds and low elapsed times should continue to dominate the tour as it heads into Marble Falls, Texas for the 2001 Lakefest Drag Boat Races, August 10-12, 2001.
"So far this season our Top Fuel Hydro class has been putting on a super show with speeds exceeding 230 mph and elapsed times under five seconds. The Top Alcohol Hydro and To Alcohol Flat classes have also been wowing the fans and sponsors. There are some points battles to watch in all three of the top classes and hopefully the excitement will continue in Marble Falls," said Doug Fuqua, IHBA Chief Marketing Officer.
For many of the teams that will be competing this weekend the excitement level is what keeps them involved in the sport.
"I like things that are thrilling and exciting. Racing these boats is the definition of intense. Right now my team is leading to points battle in Top Fuel Hydro so that just adds to the intensity. Marble Falls is a great event. From the racing, to the layout, to the fans Marble Falls is first class. It will be a super weekend and we are excited to get back in the water," said Top Fuel Hydro Racer Greg Tedesco.
