Hydro-Prop, Inc. and ESPN2 announce 2002 season television package.
(Lake Hamilton, Fla.) - Hydro-Prop, Inc. announced today that it has reached an agreement for the entire 2002 Budweiser Unlimited Hydroplane Series to be televised on ESPN2. This year every Hydros race will be a one-hour telecast on weekend dates throughout the summer.
"We are thrilled to announce the extension of our relationship with ESPN2," said Bart Garbrecht, CEO of Hydro-Prop. "ESPN2 has been an integral aspect of Unlimited Hydroplane racing and has been instrumental in the growth of the sport. Last season we received significant viewership with telecasts predominately on weekend nights. With the extended coverage planned for this season, from 30 minutes to one-hour shows, Hydros teams, competitors and sponsors will attain the television exposure they desire. We are excited to have ESPN2 as a partner and look forward to building on this strong foundation."
"We are very pleased that ESPN2 has agreed to televise all of the Unlimited Hydroplane telecasts in one hour shows," said Tony Ponturo, Vice President Global Media and Sports Marketing for Anheuser Busch. "This will provide great publicity for this exciting sport as well as for the 21-time World Champion Miss Budweiser."
ESPN2 is now seen in approximately 83 million homes, with more than nine of every 10 ESPN households (86 million) having ESPN2.
"We are excited to continue our relationship with Hydro-Prop and look forward to televising the circuit on ESPN2," said Rob Simmelkjaer, ESPN director of programming and acquisitions. "Unlimited Hydroplane is an exciting tour and has become a great part of the summer."
