(Lake Hamilton, Fla.) - HYDRO-PROP, Inc. announced today the 2001 race schedule for the Budweiser Unlimited Hydroplane Tour Presented by Laughlin The schedule features six races for the Unlimited Hydroplanes.
"We're excited about the 2001 Hydros and Formula One schedules," said Bart Garbrecht, CEO of HYDRO-PROP. "Both series return to traditional venues where they have been competing for a number of years and receive remarkable fan support."
"We are also looking forward to Tri-Cities, San Diego, and Detroit, where fans will be treated to deck-to-deck racing from both the Unlimited Hydroplanes and Formula One Powerboats," continued Garbrecht. "One of our goals was to bring both Hydros and Formula One races to the same venue and we are excited to say that this will happen in 2001 with these three races." <pre> Budweiser Unlimited Hydroplane Tour Presented by Laughlin 2001 Schedule of Events

The Madison Regatta will mark the 51st year in which Hydros have competed on the Ohio River in Madison.
Hydros and Formula One will visit Detroit, Mich. for the Spirit of Detroit Thunderfestival (July 12-15). Detroit is the home of the APBA Gold Cup race, where Hydros drivers will compete for the most coveted trophy in powerboat racing. Formula One will make their inaugural appearance on the Detroit River and will thrill the crowds on both sides of the river.
Hydros and Formula One will both travel to the State of Washington to take part in the Tri-Cities Water Follies (July 27-29). Hydros will make their 36th consecutive appearance on the Columbia River and will be joined this year by Formula One to race on one of the fastest boat racing courses in the country.
Hydros will stay in Washington the following week to compete on Lake Washington for the 51st time to celebrate SEAFAIR (Aug. 3-5). Seattle's SEAFAIR, one of the largest festivals in the Northwest, has witnessed some of the best hydroplane races in history and is the home for many of the Hydros teams.
Hydros will once again wrap up their season on beautiful Mission Bay as part of the San Diego Bayfair (Sept. 14-16). HYDRO-PROP's goal of combining Hydros and Formula One races at the same venue was a success last year at the San Diego Bayfair. Bayfair's organizers will look to duplicate that success and create another long-standing tradition of having both tours compete on Mission Bay.
