(Tri-Cities, Wash.) - Mike Seebold, Fenton, Mo., won today's Robert Young Apartments & Suites Formula One race at Tri-Cities, Wash., the fourth race of the Laughlin Formula One P.R.O.P. Tour presented by Bud Light. Seebold, the defending Formula One P.R.O.P. Tour Champion, has won two races this season and owns 13 career Formula One victories.
"This season seems like a roller coaster ride for this team," said Seebold. "We had a tough start at Laughlin but came back and won at Bay City. Today's win also takes the sting out of the seventh place finish at Saskatoon. Hopefully, this win will give us some momentum in our attempt to defend my championship."
The 35-lap Formula One final was contested for the first time over the swift waters of the Columbia River. A number of drivers competed for the lead early in the race including Seebold, Greg Foster, Tim Seebold and Terry Rinker. Foster, who was in search of his second consecutive win of the season, battled Mike Seebold but was eventually passed and had to settle for second place. Tim Seebold followed the two leaders finishing in third.
Rounding out the top five was Terry Rinker and Todd Beckman.
* Formula One Well Received at Tri-Cities The Formula One powerboats made a successful debut on the Columbia River as part of Tri-Cities Water Follies. Racing along the river with speeds of over 130 miles per hour with the ability to turn on a dime, was thrilling for the loyal boat racing fans of Tri-Cities. Tri-Cities was treated to some of the best deck-to-deck powerboat racing the sport has to offer.
* New Leader in VP Fuels-Amsoil Championship Points Fund With his third place finish today, Tim Seebold has overtaken Terry Rinker for the VP Fuels-Amsoil Championship Points Fund. Seebold, who has 751 points, now leads Rinker (749 points) by only two points heading towards the end of the season. Greg Foster, with 741 points, is within striking distance of the top two leaders after finishing second in the final. Mike Seebold currently sits in fourth with 717 points and Todd Beckman is in fifth with 692 points.
