Madison Regatta Secures Title and Presenting Sponsor for Prestigious Unlimited Hydroplane Event Budweiser Madison Regatta presented by Cruisin' Auto
(Lake Hamilton, Fla.) - Hydro-Prop announced today that the 2002 Madison Regatta has signed the Budweiser brand from Anheuser-Busch as its title sponsor and Cruisin' Auto as the presenting sponsor. The Budweiser Madison Regatta presented by Cruisin' Auto will be held July 5-7, 2002, on the shores of the Ohio River for the 52nd consecutive year.
"The Madison Regatta has been an integral aspect of the sport of Unlimited Hydroplane racing for more than five decades," said Gary Garbrecht, Chairman of Hydro-Prop. "The addition of these two sponsors continues the City of Madison's dedication and commitment in producing a successful event."
"We are extremely excited about the addition of Budweiser and Cruisin' Auto to the Madison Regatta," said Tony Steinhardt, 2002 Madison Regatta President. "Budweiser has been involved with Unlimited Hydroplanes for many years and they continue to show their support of the Madison Regatta in a variety of ways. Having Budweiser as the title sponsor this year is both an honor and a privilege."
"We also welcome the involvement of Cruisin' Auto, a Madison, Ind. family owned and operated business for 20 years," Steinhardt said. "Having a local business support the event is important for Jefferson County and its economy. Cruisin' Auto is loyal to its customers and employees and are huge supporters of local festivities, community events and academic and athletic teams."
Last year at the Madison Regatta, Steve David piloted the Madison hometown boat to victory; the cities first win since 1993. The victory also was special as it occurred on the 30th anniversary of Jim McCormick's win driving the Miss Madison at the 1971 Madison Gold Cup. David will return this season in hope of defending his title aboard the Miss Madison.
The Budweiser Madison Regatta presented by Cruisin' Auto's weeklong festivities include bands, food fairs, a parade, basketball tournament, beauty pageant, bed races, 10K walk/run, radio-controlled hydroplane racing, an air show, vintage boat racing and the Unlimited Hydroplanes. The vintage race program will be officially called the 'Bob Snelling Vintage Memorial Race'. The Fourth of July Celebration annually attracts thousands of spectators from Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky, and many other distant points. The natural park-like setting on the Ohio River provides a magnificent backdrop for the various activities.
Advance Admission to the 2002 Budweiser Madison Regatta presented by Cruisin' Auto is $15 through June 29 with children 10 and under free. For more information on the Regatta, call 812-265-5000 or go online to www.madisonregatta.com
