(Saskatoon, Canada) - Greg Foster, "Mad Man across the Water", won today's Great Northern River Roar at Saskatoon, Canada, the third race of the Laughlin Formula One P.R.O.P. Tour presented by Bud Light. Foster has owned the South Saskatchewan River winning three consecutive Great Northern River Roars.
"This event has been very good to me over the past few years," said Foster. "For the last two years, I have enjoyed coming to Saskatoon as the defending champion and look forward to next years event."
Foster's domination of the Great Northern River Roar is not limited to the final race. He was the fastest qualifier and won two preliminary heats. In fact, he has been the top qualifier at two of three races this season and has secured four heat victories.
Today's race on the South Saskatchewan River was a dogfight till the end. Foster led from start to finish but was challenged throughout by Tim Seebold. The two boats raced deck-to-deck for 40 laps but Seebold could never over-take Foster and finished in second. Terry Rinker followed the two race leaders around the course to finish in third. The top three boats crossed the finish line only three seconds apart.
Rounding out the top five was Jason Campbell and Alden Thornton.
* Thornton Produces Results
Alden Thornton, who finished in the top five for the second time this season, had a very productive weekend at Saskatoon. Thornton was the second fastest qualifier and finished second and third in two preliminary heats. Thornton heads for the second half of the season looking for his second career Formula One victory.
* Three Races, Three Different Winners
Following the lead from the Unlimited Hydroplanes, the Formula One P.R.O.P. Tour has produced three different winners in the first three races of the year. Tim Seebold won the season opener at Laughlin, Nev., Mike Seebold won at Bay City, Mich. and Greg Foster was victorious today at Saskatoon.
* VP Fuels-Amsoil Championship Points Fund
With his third place finish today, Terry Rinker still leads the VP Fuels-Amsoil Championship Points Fund. Rinker, who has 564 points, only has a four-point lead over Tim Seebold (560 points). Greg Foster, with 551 points, jumped from fifth to third position with his victory today. Mike Seebold currently sits in fourth with 523 points and Todd Beckman is in fifth with 518 points.

* Formula One Heads to Tri-Cities, Wash.
The Laughlin Formula One P.R.O.P. Tour presented by Bud Light heads for the Pacific Northwest for the Robert Young Apartments & Suites Tri-Cities Water Follies at Tri-Cities, Wash. on July 27-29. Formula One drivers will experience the fast waters of the Columbia River for the first time. This event also marks the first time this season that the Formula One P.R.O.P. Tour joins the Unlimited Hydroplanes at the same venue.
"One of our goals was to bring Formula One and Unlimited Hydroplane racing to the same venue," said Bart Garbrecht, CEO of HYDRO-PROP. "We are delighted that we can showcase both tours to the people of Tri-Cities and they will experience exciting action all weekend long."
In addition to deck-to-deck racing from the Formula One Powerboats and the Unlimited Hydroplanes, the Tri-Cities Water Follies events include, Aerial Demonstrations featuring an F-1 fighter jet and Chinook helicopter, thrill-seeking stunts by the Rose City Water Skiers and Professional wakeboarders and many other daily activities.
Practice and qualifying for the Robert Young Apartments & Suites Formula One race will begin on Friday, July 27 with the finals scheduled for Sunday, July 29. The race will be televised on ESPN2 on Sunday, August 26 at 7:00 PM (EDT).
* Power, Speed and Sharp Turns
The Formula One P.R.O.P. Tour takes motorsports to another extreme, entertaining audiences with high speed, action packed, over-the-water powerboat racing. Spectators watch in awe as lightweight tunnel boats, constructed of wood, fiberglass and carbon fiber materials, literally race across the waters on a cushion of air at speeds in excess of 135 miles per hour. These high performance powerboats challenge even the most seasoned professionals turning sharper and faster than any other race vehicle in the world.
