Tommy Aquino killed in motocross accident

21-year-old Tommy Aquino was killed in a racing incident in California Sunday.

Tommy Aquino, former AMA Yamaha factory rider was killed and another man taken to hospital after a crash on a motocross track in California yesterday.

Reports state that is was a head on collision between the two riders.

The 21-year-old rider claimed a win in the Daytona SuperBike class at New Jersey Motorsports Park in 2011 on a YES/Graves Motorsports Yamaha, and recently spent time racing in the British Superstock Series.

AMA Pro Road Racing released the following comment on the death.

“AMA Pro Racing is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of competitor Tommy Aquino. During his years as a valued member of the AMA Pro Road Racing community, Aquino became known for his racing talent, quick wit and uplifting smile. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time.”
