Darryl Curtis Going all out to Win The Castrol Winterberg Enduro

Jovial and popular off-road and enduro motorcycle competitor, Daryl Curtis, would like to win this year's Castrol Winterberg Enduro rac, his tenth.

Curtis, who started his motorcycle-racing career as a youngster in the eighties, has never won the Castrol Winterberg Enduro, but has finished in the second position four times!

This year, Curtis will be competing in his 10th Castrol Winterberg Enduro (he missed the event in 1999 due to an injury). After convincingly winning the opening round of the 2004 SA National Off-road Championship, in Swaziland on his AGA LG KTM, he will be on a mission to make it two consecutive victories early in the 2004 season.

The very demanding Castrol Winterberg Enduro is Daryl's favourite endurance race and is tougher than most off-road events. The 250 km event, half the distance of an off road race will take them the best part of a whole day to do. It includes sections where the fastest rider takes the most points while time also plays a big role in the different special tasks. This is demanding and the riders have to be wide-awake all the time and race with one eye on the clock.

The Castrol Winterberg Enduro starts at 13h00 on Friday, March 5, 2004 with documentation at the Hankey Golf Club. Riders have until 21h00 to get their motorcycles through scrutineering. The race starts at 08h00 on Saturday, March 6, 2004 at the PPC Hall in the Hankey district. The race will cross through the PPC area four times and this will make for excellent spectating.
