HOUSTON, TX. - John Mancuso has always wanted to be in the world's spotlight in within Top Fuel Harley racing. The successful Harley-Davidson dealer from Houston, Tx., will gain his wish on January 29, when he begins battle against the best racers in the two-wheeled, nitro-burning division from the United States, Australia, Canada and Europe to determine who is the world's greatest Top Fuel Harley rider. Calder Park Raceway in Melbourne, Australia, will host the first leg of the three-race series sanctioned by the American Drag Bike Association. The other two events will be contested in Brisbane and Adelaid.
To say that Mancuso is excited about the forthcoming race series would be a major understatement. He explains, "We are really excited to get to race against the best riders in the World. The competition is going to be tough and I am going to turn up he wick to try to make our mark in this series. It's real exciting to be racing against English-speaking foreigners."
Mancuso currently stands unofficially as the World's Quickest Top Fuel Harley rider following a 6.471/215 blast during testing in Baytown, Tx., during late-November. He finished in second place in the Screamin' Eagle/IHRA Nitro Harley series in 1999. The veteran fuel rider captured both the IHRA and ADBA titles in 1998.
The international travels for Mancuso continues with the trip to Australia. He recently completed a hunting trip in Africa. Mancuso considers being invited to participate in this Top Fuel Harley series, to be an honor.
"I think this is honor," explained Mancuso. "I hope to bring back the title to the States, where I think we have the best drag racers in the World."
