Kenny Bartram sweeps the competition in the Windy City.
ROSEMONT, Ill. (February 15, 2003) - IFMA Freestyle Motocross Presented by XM Satellite Radio filled the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Ill. with thousands of screaming fans. Kenny Bartram, Tommy Clowers and Mad Mike Jones headlined a cast of freestyle motocross stars performing in Chicago. Derek Burlew, one of the more consistent fmx riders continues to put pressure on 2002 IFMA Champion, Kenny Bartram each and every competition, while veterans Mike Jones and Jake Windham still prove they have what it takes to compete.
Friday night was plagued with missed opportunities. Ronnie Renner and Dustin Miller both put together strong runs, busting out new combos with huge extensions, but after hitting the 70-foot gap, both slid into the wall. Jake Windham qualified in the number four spot took advantage of Renner and Miller's mistakes to capture second. Still in the DGY Hot Seat, Windham witnessed another smooth and flawless run executed by "The Cowboy." Kenny Bartram stunned the crowd and went on to outscore Windham to take the first night win in Chicago. Derek Burlew flew below the radar scoring a 91.3 to take third, fourth place went to Mad Mike Jones with a 91.1.
With two shows on Saturday, Bartram had a chance to complete the hat trick. Ronnie Renner dodged the wall and threw together a stellar run to finish second. Kenny Bartram came out of the first round as the shows number one qualifier using the "Rock-Solid" to stun the crowd and take the win, becoming one event away from the three-peat.
Bartram again qualified number one out of the first round followed by Renner in second and Miller in third. Bartram completed the hat trick beating out Renner and Miller to complete the hat-trick here in Chicago. Jake Windham placed fourth followed by Derek Burlew and Matt Buyten.
