The Palace of Auburn Hills plays host it's third year of IFMA Freestyle Motocross.
Friday - Kenny Bartram took his sixth win in seven finals here in Auburn Hills, Michigan on Friday night. It was a close call though because Bartram was followed by #1 qualifier Dustin Miller. Miller hit all of his jumps well leaving many riders thinking he may have won. But in the end, the judges felt Kenny "The Cowboy" Bartrams run was worth two tenths more than Miller's. Both riders stepped up with Base Jumps in their final run after watching "Mad" Mike Jones pull one off earlier in the evening. Adding to the excitement was that this was the first time Jones has ever done the Base Jump (cliff-hanger to no-handed landed without checking the bars). Derek Burlew sat in the Hot Seat most of the final round until having to give the spot up to Bartram. Mike Jones finished a season best 4th after a good final run. Brian Foster had superb final run and finished fifth and proving that he is part of the future Freestyle Motocross. Ronnie Renner finished sixth after having a lack lust night.
Saturday - Kenny Bartram completed the sweep in Detroit on Saturday night. He changed up his first round run and only qualified in third, but it made no difference. His final run was un stoppable. Ronnie Renner stepped up after having a bad Friday night performance, finishing three tenths behind Bartram's winning score of 93.3. Matt Buyten sat in the Hot Seat during the final round for several riders with a 92.7 score which tied the highest qualifying mark of Dustin Miller. Mike Jones finished fourth for the second night in a row and the crowd again thought he did much better than the score (92.0) reflected. Jones has been practicing with Kenny Bartram during the week and his hard work showed in front of the Detroit crowd.
Kenny Bartram - 92.5
Dustin Miller - 92.3
Derek Burlew - 91.5
Kenny Bartram - 93.3
Ronnie Renner - 93.0
Matt Buyten - 92.7
