Irwindale, Calif. - - Don't look now but ... They'rrrre Baaack! Those high-flying, truly-styling, broken-bones-defying, Extreme Freestyle Challenge riders are once again cleared for takeoff into the friendly skies above Irwindale Speedway in a spectacular Saturday night, December 2, pre-holiday show that's guaranteed to leave everyone in the crowd gasping for breath and screaming for more.
Complete this sentence: "These guys are _________ " (multiple choice): 1) Crazy, 2) Nuts, 3) Very Skillful, 4) Very Talented, 5) Very Crazy, 6) All Of The Above. Mike Jones, Trevor Vines, Brian Deegan, Tommy Clowers, Shawn Highland, Dan Pastor and more are all "certifiable" experts of this "X-Games"-like motoring exercise which consists of quite literally flying a hopped-up motocross some 50+ feet in the air across a gaping 100 foot wide chasm. And ... Not just riding the bike across the daunting void but doing the jump while almost completely detached form the machine. The first jump will seem unbelievable, and the rest of the night's activities will escalate vertically from there.
The Extreme Freestyle Challenge is just that, wilder and wilder jumps, competitors egged on by other competitors in a truly literal interpretation of the Olympic Games motto "Citius, Altius, Fortius". Faster, Higher, Braver are not only the watchwords of this world-wild wheeled sport, but virtually its only rules.
The night is Saturday, December 2. Gates open at 5:00 and the show starts at 7:00. Irwindale's February edition of this show was an on-the-spot sellout with seats and pit entry passes being glommed onto as fast as the high-speed ticket machines could print them. Advance tickets area available NOW through the Speedway ticket office (on-site or at 626-358-1100) and on the "net" at www.tickets.com. Fans are urged to get here early and to get ready to cheer for some of the most spectacular motorcycle competition ever seen on the planet.
