Lange Continues Winning Ways at National Arenacross Series Final Round in Kansas City

(Kansas City, Mo.) - February 28, 2004 - Clear Channel Entertainment's Motor Sports division announces the results from the final round of the National Arenacross Series in Kansas City, Mo. on February 27th and 28th at Kemper Arena and the final 125cc and 250cc combined points standings for the season. After Team Green Chevy Truck Pro Circuit Richmond Kawasaki's Darcy Lange clinched the championship at last week's races in Sacramento, Calif, the focus was on the points seperating second, third and fourth place between Shogun Motorsports' Factory Yamaha's Tommy Hofmaster, Empire Racing Factory Suzuki's John Dowd and Tamer Billet MX Troy Lee Design's Justin Brayton.

Friday night's racing was very intense and the riders could feel the tension in the pits since there were only a possible 80 points to earn over the weekend's four main events to help push them up in the season end's points standings. Main event wins were split between Hofmaster and Lange, as Tamer Billet MX Troy Lee Designs' Justin Brayton and Brad Hagseth made top three in each main event, as well as Thor Yamaha Tuf Racing's Chad Johnson.

Hofmaster secured the Dash for Cash championship on Friday night after pulling out a win and ended up six points ahead of former Dash for Cash Champion Darcy Lange's 67 points. Although Hofmaster did not race in the Dash for Cash on Saturday night, he was far enough ahead in points to still stay on top.

Saturday night's racing was even more intense. The first 125cc heat race of the night found Lange and Hofmaster battling around the track side by side for three laps until they slammed into each other around the berm coming off of the rythm section. Both riders on the ground, the crowd could feel the anger between the two riders. These two riders have battled all season and the tension between them thickened tonight on the track. Each came away with a championship on the year and a second place finish in points.

The 250cc main event was a Darcy Lange showcase, as he took the holeshot and then the 2004 National Arenacross Champion checked out for 20 laps. The real battle of the 250cc main event was for second place as Dowd and Hofmaster traded places for most of the race with Dowd coming out on top at the end of the race.
