EL CAJON, CA. A 29-race schedule for 2003 has been announced by Cajon Speedway. It will mark the 43rd year of competition at the 3/8 mile paved oval located in San Diego County.
The season gets underway on April 5 when the NASCAR Featherlite Southwest Series makes its annual visit. The Coors Light 125 will be on tap that night. Cajon is the only track that has hosted a Southwest Series event every year since the tour's inception back in 1986.
Once again Cajon will be participating in the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series presented by Dodge. The late model sportsman will be the track's feature division and will run 17 nights during the season. There will be three twinbills for the late models. Those will be held on June 29, August 30, and September 20. The track will host their annual open competition event for late model sportsman on October 4.
The street stock division will participate in the NASCAR Shortrack Series again during 2003. The other local stock car divisions include the Grand American modifieds, pony stocks, bomber stocks, and factory stocks. Also appearing at Cajon Speedway during the 2003 season will be Davey Hamilton's Supermodified Racing League, the Mechanix Wear Speed Trucks, the Legend Cars of California, the MSRA Pro Four modifieds, and the Allison Legacy Cars.
The Supermodified Racing League will host a two-day show for the first time at Cajon. The open wheeled spectacular for the fastest short track racecars in the United States will take place on Friday, September 5 and Saturday, September 6.
The Mechanix Wear Speed Trucks have four events at Cajon. Those events will be on May 10, July 12, August 9, and September 13.
