BRIDEWELL BROTHERS AIM FOR LOCAL GLORY
Tommy And Ollie Confident Ahead Of Thruxton
Wiltshire brothers Tommy and Ollie Bridewell go into round two of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship brimful of confidence as the series visits their local track at Thruxton this weekend.
From Etchilhampton near Devizes, the teenagers will be competing in their respective support classes at the fast Hampshire airfield track near Andover whereby another record crowd is expected.
16 year old Tommy will be hunting down more points having finished 13th in the opening round of the Virgin Mobile Cup at Brands Hatch over Easter aboard the Wayside Racing Yamaha while Ollie, 19, will be hoping to improve on a superb top ten placing in the Metzeler Racetec British Superstock Championship for the ambitious Vivaldi Racing Team, for whom he is a member this season
"Thruxton has never been a lucky circuit for me in the couple of times I've raced there but this year I aim to make amends and I've set myself a target of a top seven finish" said Tommy. "I enjoyed the first race at Brands and I'm really looking forward to racing again this weekend, it should be good fun" commented the youngster.
Meanwhile his elder brother sampled success there last season having finished third in the Yamaha R6 Cup race and is confident of another good showing this year:
"I'm hoping to do really well and I know it sounds ambitious, but I'll be going all out to win or at least get on the podium. My plan is to qualify well and get away with the leaders and if I can do that, who knows what might happen on the last lap! It's vitally important to continue the good start to the season and I'm feeling confident" said Ollie.
Tommy's race gets underway at 14.05 and the 15 lapper will be once again broadcast live by Sky Sports. Ollie meanwhile will hopefully be celebrating by then following his 18 lap encounter which gets the action underway at 12.05.
Thruxton is five miles west of Andover in Hampshire just off to the A303. There is no access to the circuit from Thruxton village. The circuit is well signed from Andover and the A303.
