ADRIANO BUZAID TO RACE FOR T-SPORT IN 2009
Brackley, UK -- 2 February 2009: T-Sport is delighted to announce today that Adriano Buzaid will race for the team in the 2009 British F3 International Series. The 20 year-old Brazilian will drive one of T-Sport's Dallara-Volkswagens in the British F3 Championship Class and will be competing for race victories after a successful Formula Renault season in 2008.
Adriano finished third in the 2008 Formula Renault UK Championship, taking five victories and six pole positions along the way. His goal for 2009 is to run at the front in British F3 and challenge for race wins.
"As this is my first year in F3 it is very hard to predict what will happen," said Adriano. "But I know with the right equipment I can challenge for the championship. My plan is to work hard, win races and fight for the title. I have been hard at work in Brazil over the winter finalising sponsorship deals and I intend to make sure I make the most of this opportunity as I have had to push hard to get it. I am very happy with the testing I have done so far with T-Sport; I have already settled in well with the team and, if I can continue where Sergio Perez left off, it will be a good year."
After coming tantalisingly close to the British F3 title with Sergio Perez in 2008, T-Sport Team Principal, Russell Eacott, is keen to get the 2009 season underway.
"Sergio (Perez) did a fantastic job for us last year and only just missed out on the F3 title. It's good to see he has gone on to win in GP2 as we always knew he could go all the way. Adriano (Buzaid) is going to be a fantastic addition to the T-Sport team as we enter an exciting new era with a new engine partner and a renewed optimism. I think Adriano can challenge for wins and play a big part in producing another great year of racing for T-Sport."
T-Sport's complete driver line-up will be announced in due course.
