T-Sport's Rodolfo Gonzalez made light work of the tricky conditions at Spa this weekend and took victory in both British F3 national class races, bringing his number of wins in 2006 to an astounding ten! In addition to the wins he took pole and fastest lap in both races making it a perfect sweep at Spa.
After a few days of gloriously hot and sunny weather in the Ardennes the notorious Spa micro-climate decided it was time for rain prior to the first F3 race. Tyre choice was going to be crucial so the team informed Rodolfo that if he wanted to he could pull into the pits on the green flag lap to put on a set of wet tyres. It proved to be the right decision as, after Christiano Morgado led for much of the race on slicks, Rodolfo streamed past in the closing stages for the win as the track go wetter and wetter.
Spa was misty on Saturday morning and the track was still damp from overnight rain but the mist cleared just in time for the early start. Later today the GT cars will take to the track for the Spa 24 Hours so the F3 race is run early in the day.
Rodolfo did what he needed to do again in race two, taking his tenth win of the season, after a good battle. He now has a massive lead in the National Class and heads to Silverstone in two weeks' time where he is hoping for wins 11 and 12! In the post-race press conference, Rodolfo paid tribute to T-Sport, saying, "I want to thank T-Sport for taking me to my tenth win of the season; they have done a cracking job." He also thanked his sponsors before heading home.
