James Rossiter qualified in pole position for round ten of the championship after edging ahead in a four-way battle in the final laps of the session. Adam Carroll finished in second place with Lucas Di Grassi in third.

Carlin Motorsport laid down the challenge to other teams with their drivers Clivio Piccione and Alvaro Parente going fastest early on. Hitech Racing driver Di Grassi, fresh from securing pole in the first qualifying session, was then heading the times when the red flag was deployed early in the second half of the session.

At the restart P1 Motorsport's Carroll continued his strong form and went fastest only to be knocked from the top by Nelson Piquet, although Carroll responded with his fastest lap of the day, a time which he nearly beat on several subsequent laps, while Di Grassi also put in a run of very fast laps to challenge for pole.

Hitech Racing's Andrew Thompson suffered a scare at the end of the Revett Straight as he lost control under braking and spun violently across the grass. He toured round the circuit and back to his pit suffering from a puncture. Rossiter also suffered a high-speed spin at the fast Bomb Hole section of the circuit but was able to continue.

In the closing laps Rossiter put in a strong lap to go fastest by one tenth of a second, ahead the battle between Carroll, Di Grassi and Piquet who were covered by just two hundredths of a second. Rossiter's pole was secured when yellow flags were deployed in the final few minutes preventing anyone from improving their times.
