POSITIVE PERFORMANCE FOR HOLLINGS AT MONDELLO PARK
Charlie Hollings, racing for Fortec Motorsport, put in a solid performance during rounds seven and eight of the Lloyds TSB Insurance British F3 International Series that took place at Mondello Park in Ireland last weekend. After disappointment in Pau, where a start-line collision cost Charlie both races, the young Yorkshireman finished in twelfth position in the first race and eleventh place in the second, narrowly missing out on the points.
"I have had two days of testing since Pau, more than I have had before any other round, and I was expecting an improvement in pace over the weekend," Charlie explained. "I am disappointed that I didn't finish in the points but we took a gamble by using slick tyres during a drying qualifying session and it didn't pay off - I qualified in seventeenth place in the first race and fourteenth in the second -- putting me further down the grid than I would have liked. However, I generally feel much more comfortable with the car and know that we have the potential to do much better."
Rounds nine and ten of the championship will take place on the 15-16 July at Snetterton in Norfolk. Motorsport will not be the only attraction over the weekend as all of the F3 drivers will be donning their running shoes to complete a Sport Relief mile on the Saturday at 6pm. Dressed in their full racing suits, they will be joined on the circuit by their team mates, the drivers and teams in the Avon Tyres British GT Championship, together with members of the public in order to raise money for the good causes supported by Sport Relief. In true motorsport style, the runners will cross the line in front of the pitlane and there are some fantastic prizes to be won.
