Lola Cars International Ltd today announces the Lola B05/30 Formula 3 car that will follow on the success of the Lola-Dome F106 design that has challenged the stranglehold previously enjoyed by Dallara since 1993. The next phase of Lola's Formula 3 campaign begins now, after an exhaustive development period in which the F106 demonstrated its adaptability to the different tyres and engines used in the variety of F3 series worldwide.
In 2004 alone, the F106 has celebrated 11 outright victories and is currently challenging closely for titles in Italy and Japan. In June at Castle Combe Danny Watts and the Promatecme team ended 11 years of Dallara victories with a stunning win that re-wrote the history books.
The new car has just started production and has been through an intensive design process featuring Lola's on-site 50% scale state of the art windtunnel and the company's renowned CFD capability. Excellent aerodynamic efficiency was a significant trademark of the existing car and now Lola engineers have prepared to create an even bigger impact with what will be the most technically advanced Formula 3 car ever built.
Utilising design cues from the latest Formula One concepts, the B05/30 will have improved handling and downforce in low speed corners, revised front suspension geometry and a re-packaged transmission. Also, working closely with Lola's 7-post vehicle dynamic testing rig, the B05/30 will offer three configurations of suspension layout; monoshock, twin-shock and a third spring option.
Rupert Manwaring, Managing Director of Lola, said of the new design; "There is a real confidence around the factory about what the new car will be capable of and we believe that it will take us to the next step in proving to be a consistent winner. The experience that we take from the last two development years of the project stands in good stead to provide teams with a car that will enjoy a clear advantage throughout the next three years."
As has been the case since re-entering the F3 arena at the beginning of last year, Lola will ensure that dedicated technical support will be on hand for each customer in maintaining constant technical improvements. In order to continue Lola's reputation as a devoted customer driven organisation there will be increased support at each track the car races on."
The B05/30, which will first test in mid December 2004 with a first delivery date for early New Year. The new car is fully anticipated to considerably advance these achievements and to establish a clear advantage over its rivals, whom Lola are looking forward to once again competing with in the next three seasons.
