Jamie Green, fresh from achieving pole position for round 1, secured a brace of poles with another fine performance in qualifying for round 2. The weather conditions were again sunny and dry although the track had become a little slower since the first session four hours earlier.

Richard Antinucci again put on the early pressure along with Rob Austin, Alan van der Merwe and Ronnie Bremer who all exchanged fastest laps once the track conditions allowed competitive times to be set.

However it was Nelson Piquet Jnr, bouncing back from his earlier disqualification, who put in the performance of the session with an 8-lap run of flying laps all within 0.5 seconds of each other, the fifth of which was good enough to secure second position on the grid.

Green suffered all sorts of problems in the early part of the session and was unable to get a clear lap. However mid-way through the session his times tumbled and a three-lap run of 1m 04s laps allowed him to set his fastest lap of the session. All the drivers' times seemed to fall away towards the end of the session and so Green's time was safe.

The only real pressure came from fellow Formula Renault graduate Will Davison who put in a strong run of consistent laps right at the end of the session but just wasn't able to break into 1m 04s.

Green lines up on pole ahead of Nelson Piquet Jnr, Richard Antinucci, Ronnie Bremer, Alan van der Merwe and Rob Austin in sixth.
