Robbie Kerr - British F3 Champion 2002

Donington Park 21-Sep-02 - Hinckley's own Robbie Kerr finished his historic charge through the 2002 British Formula 3 Championship by taking the title in the first of the weekends final two rounds.

Robbie came into the weekend leading the standings by 33 points and required just 10 points to clinch the title, which equated to a 4th place or better in the Saturday race to wrap things up.

Starting from pole position on the famous Donington Park Grand Prix circuit, the diminutive Kerr drove a workman like race, worthy of his champion status, to finish in third place and take the spoils from his closest rival James Courtney.

"It was a fantastic team result to end up winning the championship like this, I can't thank the team, Alan Docking, Paul anthony, Nathan and all the boys enough. The support today, and all season has been brilliant. It hasn't really sunk in yet, I'm going to have to get used to hearing Robbie Kerr, 2002 British Formula 3 Champion!"
