DENNIS RETERA JOINS T-SPORT FOR BRITISH F3 CHAMPIONSHIP
Eindhoven, The Netherlands, 8 February 2006: 'Stichting CHART' (CHART Foundation) racing driver, Dennis Retera, has signed a one-year contract with British Formula 3 team, T-Sport. By signing the deal with T-Sport Retera will compete in the Championship Class of one of the world's most prestigious Formula 3 Championships.
The former Champion of the Benelux and Dutch Formula Ford Championships has taken a big step forward with his racing career. His performances at the British Formula Ford Festival, the Formula Renault Winter series and various tests with F3 teams, showed T-Sport that Retera has the talent to succeed.
T-Sport was founded by Russell Eacott in 2001. Together with Alan "Skelly" Woodhead, Retera knows he can rely on the teams' experience and knowledge and go for a top three position this season. Racing alongside Retera, albeit in the National Class, will be Rodolfo Gonzales, the team sticking to their successful formula of running a car in each class of the Championship. In 2005 T-Sport finished as runners-up in the National Class with Barton Mawer and eighth in the Championship Class with Ryan Lewis.
After signing the contract Retera said, "This is absolutely fantastic! T-Sport is a motivated team who will give me everything I need to prove myself in F3. This is exactly what we, Stichting CHART and Peter Kox (Top GT racer and Retera's mentor), have been working for. I'm very excited to join the British Formula 3 Championship."
"We have been working towards this moment for two years now", commented Peter Kox. "The time has come for Dennis to prove himself against some of the toughest competition in Europe. We've searched for a driven and experienced team where Dennis will have a good shot and we believe that T-Sport is that team."
Russell Eacott, T-Sport Team Manager added, "Dennis is a very talented and focused driver. It will take a bit of time for him to familiarise himself both with Formula 3 and some new circuits, but we expect him to learn quickly and challenge at the front of the field."
Dennis Retera will be on track in his T-Sport Dallara F306 Mugen-Honda on 15/16 February at Pembrey, Wales, for the first official test of the 2006 season.
