Davison scores double podium in Croft F3

May 3, 2003 -- Australian racing international Will Davison has placed himself firmly in the fight for the British Formula 3 Championship by taking two podium positions in the rounds held overnight at Croft in the United Kingdom.

The Menu Motorsport driver started fifth for the first race and was able to work his way through to finish third on the same circuit where he won his first-ever F3 race last year.

In the second race the 21-year-old again starred, charging through from eighth on the grid to finish in second place.

The result moves Davison to fourth place in the championship chase, only 12 points off joint championship leaders Nelson Piquet Jr and Danilo Dirani.

"It's an important result for us," said Davison.

"That makes a tally of three podium finishes for us from six races and that's what we need. You have to be consistent in this championship as well as fast and that's what we're focusing on, week in and week out.

"The team have been working very hard and the results are starting to come to us.

"The first two race weekends have been a bit topsy turvy but I'm confident that we're on the right track now and we'll see what happens from here on in.

"Croft has always been a favourite circuit of mine, even since I raced Formula Renault in 2002, so it's nice to keep it as a happy hunting ground."

Rounds seven and eight of the series will be at Knockhill in Scotland on May 15/16.

Points: Dirani/Piquet Jr 52, Rossiter 50, Davison 40 etc.
